stripping and reclamation only. No relocation of topsoil is proposed. If the duration before use
exceeds one full growing cycle, topsoil stockpiles will be seeded with western wheatgrass to
control erosion.
Mining on affected lands will disturb little woody vegetation; however, if any volumes of woody
vegetation are produced, they will be properly placed in areas segregated from topsoil stockpiles
and used in conjunction with reclamation. The applicant may cut trees, as needed, and salvage
them for firewood.
The Operator will take measures to assure the stability of replaced topsoil on graded slopes by
roughing the subgrade to gain a mechanical bond to the topsoil being replaced. This should
ensure the elimination of any slippage zones. It is the owner/applicant and landowner's opinion
that the topsoil present on site is adequate to establish the seed mix recommended by the United
States Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (MRCS). No
replacement topsoil is planned to be imported for reclamation.
Vegetative piles, if any, will be minimal and shall be removed from the area or utilized in the
reclamation of the mine site.
No mining or processing facilities or equipment will remain within the permit boundary during
final reclamation.
4. Water Information, Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust
control, etc. is presented in Exhibit G - Water Information.
5. Schedule of Operations
Mining and processing may occur year around at the site depending upon customer demand.
Portable mining and processing equipment will be brought on site, mining and processing will
take place, and materials will be stored in stockpiles on site. It is anticipated that limited mining
and processing will occur during the winter months and that material will be stockpile during the
fall months sufficient to meet consumers' needs during the winter months.
