Mr.Lennberg
April 15,2019
Page 2 of 4
b.A description of the size and location of each area to be worked during each phase;
PLS Response: Please see the revised Mining Plan Map. Each mining sub-block is approximately
3 acres with each to be mined within a year, respectively. The timetable is market dependent.
c. Outlining the sequence in which each stage or phase of the operation will be carried out;
PLS Response: Please see the revised Mining Plan Map. The mining will proceed according to
the former mining plan and map with the direction moving west to east in this area at the rate
stated above.
d.The Operator indicated that this area would be used for overburden storage after the cell was
backfilled, approximately how much area will be dedicated to storage?, and
PLS Response: The entire slurry wall cell area of approximately 69 acres will be used for
overburden placement as part of reclamation. The overburden placement sequence will follow
the mining sequence moving west to east, bringing the mining sub-block up to near original
grade as it moves to the next mining sub-block.
e. Once this stage has been reclaimed when will reseeding occur?
PLS Response: Reseeding will occur within a year once the previously mined sub-block in the
slurry wall cell has been brought to near original grade through backfilling and topsoil
placement.This will follow the existing reclamation plan for this area.
3. Please provide a description of the methods of mining to be employed in the stage of the
operation as required by Rule 6.4.4(a).
PLS Response: The mining method has not changed. The slurry wall cell will be pumped out to
remove all remaining groundwater and mined via open pit dry mining.
4. Please describe how the initial dewatering of the cell will be performed?
PLS Response: Upon completion of the slurry wall cell. A pit will be mined to the bedrock to
allow for placement of pump(s) to remove the captured groundwater and to discharge to the
nearby existing ponds and channel. Please note, approval of a revised SWSP to reflect this
action will be required as well.
5.What is the approximate depth to groundwater at the site?
PLS Response: The groundwater is about 7 to 11 feet below ground surface.
6. If the ponds are relocated will they be the same size as the existing ponds?
