Disturbance Dimensions
Under this proposed expansion,we are planning on disturbing a maximum of 17.86 acres. As
previously stated within this document, and shown within the provided maps, we are
planning to use two different areas to extract the pit-run gravel material needed for this
project. Our intent is to remove the needed materials and reclaim/revegetate the pit as stated
in our reclamation plan. Owner only intends to strip topsoil and disturb areas within the
proposed boundaries. Owner intends to disturb as little land as possible and will make every
effort to minimize the operations footprint. Owner plans on mining approximately 8 acres
at a time. Reclamation of mined areas will commence when either the mined is
completed depleted or erosion begins to occur. The only disturbance will be expanding
the footprint of the pit's mining floor, which is caused by continuing to mine into the existing
high wall and continuing on to the newly proposed expansion.
Roads and Drainage
Please refer to the Major Mining Components section of this document to understand the road
improvements and upgrades necessary to support the proposed mining operation. The
attached Mining Plan Maps are also a good reference to understand the proposed expansion
plan.As stated throughout this document, all access road upgrades or additions have been
included in the calculation for disturbed areas an included in our reclamation estimate as
being fully reclaimed.
,As protecting the area's natural and manmade resources area top priority, owner will ensure
all necessary BMP's are in place at all times. They will be installed prior to any ground
disturbing activities commencing and will remain in proper working condition throughout
the mining operation. Owner is working with the NRCS to ensure proper erosion control
measures will be implemented into the proposed mining site.
The BMP's summary is listed below.
a. BMP List
I. Silt Fence-To be installed on all down slope boundaries within the pit that have
the potential to receive any run-off within the site.Silt Fence will be trenched in 6"
deep and backfilled to ensure a proper operating condition is achieved. As field
conditions may present changing conditions throughout the mining process,
additional silt fence may/will be installed in areas that are identified as needing it.
ii. Straw Wattle-To be installed as needed to slow down any concentrated run-off
that may occur within the expansion site.Straw Wattle will also be used in
conjunction with installed silt fence in areas where a higher volume of run-off may
be seen.Straw Wattle will be dug in and staked.
............ .
