10. Borrow material will be excavated within the pit limits and hauled directly to the
project site off of the property. No processing of the material will occur on the
site.
11. There is an existing road owned by the landowner, Doulas Hasser, that will be
used to operate from the borrow pit to US 287. It will not be altered and is not
included in the acreage of the borrow site.
12. The pit is an existing fairly flat rangeland. A maximum of 12 feet depth will be
mined by beginning at the southeast edge of the pit limits and excavating North.
The pit floor will be graded to a relatively level elevation for approximately 300
feet and then a max 4:1 slope will be built on the Western and Southern side of
the pit.
13. The slopes of the excavation will be made a maximum of 4H:1 V slope or flatter.
The slopes will be graded as the excavation proceeds and vertical pit walls will
not be necessary.
14. The dimensions will be as shown on Exhibit E—Mining Plan Map. The pit limits
are rectangular in shape with leg lengths of approximately 550 feet long and 390
feet wide for an affected area of 5.0 acres within the excavated area.
15. Water will be used within the pit will be for dust control only. The source of this
water will be from the City of Lamar. Total usage will be approximately 1 acre-
foot. We have a lease in with the City of Lamar waiting on the Mayors Signature
which should be the end of April.
16. A storm water management plan will be filed with the Colorado Department of
Health to maintain the hydrologic balance.
17. This excavation is into virgin ground. It is not anticipated that any foreign
materials will be encountered. If some were encountered, they would be disposed
of in a manner to prevent unsightliness and protect the drainage system from
pollution, as determined for the specific material.
18. Since the before and after use of the land is rangeland, minimal change will result
to the hydrologic balance, no off-site damage will occur and the slopes and other
general configuration of the land will be more stable for the current and reclaimed
use due to elimination of existing erosion (caused by normal natural wind and
water action over time) in the stable, steeper than 4:1 slopes. No standing water
will be retained longer than 24 hours. In addition, the excavated area will be
mulched to eliminate topsoil erosion.
19. Excavation will be kept above the known ground water elevation since the mining
will be done out of the side of a hill therefore the operation will not require any
type of dewatering.
