Tracks from
deer and rabbits were seen in the snow at several locations throughout the mine site.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4 .05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
- Facilities Area
During the inspection of the facilities area runoff from snowmelt was passing through the drainage s ystem to the
DP-1 Pond. Ditches around the facilities area were functioning as designed and water was not bypassing the
system. Ditches in the facilities area were observed to have sediment deposited in them. The level of the sediment
had not decreased the ditches functionality. These ditches should be cleaned in the spring as a part of the s easonal
maintenance. One ditch located on the west side of the wash plant bench was full of sediment. The Division
recommends cleaning out the ditch as s oon as possible to prevent runoff or snowmelt from impacting the facilities.
Culverts throughout the facilities area were clear of debris and functioning as designed.

- DP -1 Pond (Photo 1)
The DP-1 Pond was mostly covered with snow and frozen over during the inspection. The pond was impounding
water and discharging through the primary spillway. The trash rack around the spillway was clear of debris. The
embankment of the pond was stable and there were no indications of erosional features.

- PP-1 and PP-2
The PP-1 And PP-2 Ponds are located near the wash plant. Both of the ponds were frozen over and covered in
snow. No discharge was occurring from the ponds. The embankments were stable and there were no erosional
features identified.

- RR-1 (Photo 2) and RS-1 (Photo 3)
The RR-1 Pond and The RS-1 Sump are located on the south side of the rail loadout. The RR-1 Pond was
impounding a small amount of water during the inspection. The embankments were well vegetated and stable. No
erosional concerns were noted. The RS-1 Sump as holding a small amount of water. There was no discharge from
the sump. The embankments were stable and well vegetated. There were no indications of erosion. There is a
ditch that transports runoff from the rail loop to the sump and the pond. The ditch uses a culvert to divert water to
the sump and then continues to the east and feeds directly to the pond. There was a section of sediment that had
blocked the inlet to the culvert and appeared to have blocked the ditch. Water was not flowing in the ditch at the
time of the inspection. Water was observed to have ponded outside the sump due to the blockage (Photo 4). The
culvert for the sump had caught the water and prevented it from running off the disturbed area. The Division
recommends clearing the blockage in the ditch and ensuring the culvert for the su mp is clear. Please make
cleaning this ditch a priority.

- SS-1 and SS-2
The SS-1 and SS-2 Ponds are located on the north side of the Slot Storage. The SS -1 Pond was covered with
