DIVISION 2 - SITE WORK <br /> SECTION 02230-BASE COURSE <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br /> Extent of base course is indicated on the Contract Drawings. <br /> This section covers base course requirements for placement on the slope liner crest road. <br /> 1.02 RELATED WORK <br /> Section 02290-Dam Embankment and Embankment Slope Liner Construction <br /> 1.03 SUBMITTAL <br /> The Mine Superintendent or designee shall provide a base course sample to the soil testing laboratory for <br /> determination of gradation and Standard Proctor density. <br /> PART 2-MATERIALS <br /> 2.01 BASE COURSE MATERIALS <br /> The base course shall consist of a hard,durable,crushed rock or stone and filler. The composite base <br /> course material shall be free from vegetable matter and lumps or balls of clays and shall meet the Colorado <br /> Department of Transportation Specification Class 6 Aggregate Base Course which follows: <br /> Sieve Size %Passim <br /> 3/4" 100 <br /> #4 30-65 <br /> #8 25 -55 <br /> #200 3 - 12 <br /> Liquid Limit-30%Maximum <br /> Plasticity Index-6%Maximum <br /> Base course may be obtained and processed on-site. <br /> PART 3-EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 ROAD BASE COURSE <br /> The upper 12" of the subgrade shall be scarified and recompacted to a maximum of 95%Standard Proctor <br /> Density per ASTM D698. <br /> On-site material as approved by the Engineer,is suitable for compacted fill in proposed base course areas. <br /> Fill in base course areas shall be placed within two percent of optimum moisture content and compacted to <br /> a minimum of 95 percent Standard Proctor Density per ASTM D698. <br /> The base course shall be placed on the subgrade within+/-two percent of optimum moisture and <br /> compacted to at least 95 percent of Standard Proctor Density.
