Stormwater discharges shall be monitored when they are occurring. Samples shall be collected
at Discharge Point 001 for testing. No discharges will occur at Discharge Point 002. Grab samples
for Total Suspended Solids, Oil and Grease, Electrical Conductivity, Dissolved Manganese,
Potentially Dissolved Selenium, and Total Recoverable Uranium shall be taken directly from the
Discharge Point 001 pipe discharge flow in containers provided by the laboratory using the
following procedure:
• It is recommended that rubber gloves be worn during sampling to avoid skin contact with
the preservatives. Should skin or clothing contact any preservative flush the area
thoroughly with water.
• Each sample container will have a label that identifies the test to be performed and the
preservative present, if any.
• Complete the sample label prior to placing on the container. Use a waterproof pen.
• Fill the sample container slowly to -1" below the top to reduce the headspace present.
Be careful not to overfill and wash out the preservative. If the preservative is washed out,
proceed with filling the container, however, note that the preservative was washed out
on the sample label.
• Filling the container with less than 1" headspace could result in bottle breakage as the
sample expands.
• Repeat for each container provided for each sample location. It is important that all
containers be filled and properly labeled.
• Samples should be placed in a cooler, packed with ice (in Ziploc bags to avoid leaking),
and ship via overnight service to the laboratory for testing.
7
