The operator/applicant and landowner choose to have this site reclaimed as pastureland and for
residential use therefore all slopes will be 3H:1 V or flatter. Seeding will be accomplished by
grassland drill equipment where feasible and broadcast in other areas.
Since this mine site will reclaimed for cattle grazing and home sites, some areas may be prepared
for houses and other buildings. The grazing however will not begin until the grasses have been
established to a point that the landowners in conjunction with the DRMS and the local Soil
Conservation District determine it is ready.
The site will be prepared to provide the best chance of grass being established by doing the
following as recommended by the local Soil Conservation office. Seedbed Preparation: The
seedbed should be well settled and firm but friable enough that seed can be drilled at the
recommended depth. Soils that have been compacted by tragic or other equipment should be
tilled (deep-chisled or ripped if necessary) to break up restrictive or compacted layers and then
harrowed and rolled or packed to prepare the required firm seedbed. If the seed is to be broadcast
then the seedbed should be settled and fairly firm but left rough to catch the seed and allow some
coverage by soil when tracked in by heavy equipment or harrowed and packed into the surface.
Avoid seedbed preparation when the soil is wet to prevent compaction of the seedbed. Planting
depth less than I inch.
Noxious weeds are not a problem on this site however, if noxious weeds do invade this site, a
weed control program will be implemented as soon as possible to stop the spread of the noxious
weeds. A portion of the reclamation cost will be devoted to this item.
It will not be necessary to construct fire lanes or access roads for the express purpose of fighting
fire since this area is for grazing and private single-family homes, the haul roads that will be
constructed for mining will remain in use for the ranch operations and the residential
development.
The seed mix recommendation from the NRCS at 3590 E. Main Street, Trinidad, CO 81082 is as
follows:
3.1 Pastureland Seed Mix
Robinson Gravel No I X L--.' 11111.1-,,.,, 1
September 2018 E-5
