MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C
Both of the existing mines being combined in this amendment
are operating . Mining commenced on the Dimension stone quarry in
April 1949 and the 111 Special Permit was issued by the Division
in October 2013 . The 111 permit area supplied stone used for
reconstruction of infrastructure destroyed or ruined by the
September 2013 floods on the Big Thompson and St . Vrain Rivers .
Mining has been a continuous activity on the Colorado Rose Red,
Inc . property since the 1930 ' s when the family patriarch started
quarrying dimension stone from the site .
There is one road that runs approximately three-fourths of a
mile from Hwy 36 past the office to the quarry/affected area of
operation which is 15 feet wide . This road extends to the upper
level and has been in continuos use by the mine operators since
1949 . As a preexisting road portions are not in the permit area.
The company office is located in the residence at the base of the
mountain off the permit area . Current improvements that take
place are grading the road after a heavy rain or snow using
gravel and rock fill as needed. All roads have existed since 1948
when mining began and is maintained by Colorado Rose Red as
needed.
6 .3 .3 - We anticipate the life of this mine to be over 200
years on supplying dimensional stone products and 15 to 25 years
for the quarry part of the operation. The Dimension son is a
very fine grained granite use for making headstones, etc . The
primary material to be removed from the exterior part of the
operations will vary in size from riprap to crushed specification
aggregates . The commodity mined/extracted by both operations is
Colorado Rose Red granite composed of red feldspar, black mica
and white quartz .
No secondary material will be mined nor are there any
incidental products that will be created.
The estimated depth to which soil will be salvaged in the
existing mines and approximately 2 . 97 acres of exposed rock
surface in the permit area is zero . On the remaining 3 . 11 acres
of forest or open area we expect to salvage 3 to 13 inches or
approximately 3350 yard of soil if the average is 8 inches deep .
Whatever is encountered will be saved for use on the benches as
described in the Reclamation Plan.
Dimension stone
The quantity of waste rock for the dimensional stone opera-
tion is minimal at this time . There is little to no waste rock
due to the use of the Water Jet . It has allowed the operation to
follow the rift of the rock that reduced or eliminated the amount
of waste rock created. The fines generated by the water jet rock
44 revised 6/7/18
