Site Description Exhibit B (cont)
soil . In the Soils Report it is generally classified as a very
gravelly coarse sandy loam . This is not an ideal soil in the
sense it has little nutrients and is really classified as growth
medium but for sake of discussion we will use "soil" as a general
name for the material . Assuming there is 8 inches average on the
areas containing this soil there are 3 , 350 yard of available soil
that can be saved at a maximum.
We have provided a Vegetation Cover Map-Exhibit E-3 showing
the current vegetation state and land covers for the amendment
area . This map was made using the soils report, on site investi-
gations and air photos to determine the composition of the areas
shown. On this map we have shown 5 types of area; those areas
that have no soil, either mined, pre-law spill area or naturally
occurring bald rock; areas that have a forest over story, of
which some may have soil on it and vegetation areas that have a
mix of grasses, shrubs and scattered trees that contain most of
the available soil .
The soils report provided, best describes what is on the
site, but the depth of the surface fines noted in the soils
report are less on this site . The affected area is solid granite
see letter prepared by Mike Liesveld explaining the type of rock
and other items is provided in the Appendix .
The following soils and vegetation information was obtained
from site observations and the basic soils and vegetation infor-
mation obtained from the Natural Resource Conservation Service' s
Web Soil Survey site (https : //websoilsurvey.nres .usda.gov/ z/) .
The pages from this web site show the general soils properties
and vegetation capabilities for the site . The soil on the site
is shown on the Soils Map, reproduced following this text . This
map and the SCD report does not address the pre-law spill areas,
existing mine or the old mine/parking areas on the southern end
of the permit area where no soil exists .
There are three soil types found on the site, (2703B)
Cypher-Ratake families complex, 4 to 40% slopes, (2705D) Ratake-
Cathedral families-Rock outcrop complex, 40 to 150% slopes and
(2706D) Cypher family-Rock outcrop complex, 40 to 150% slopes .
5 revised 6/7/18
