Reclamation Plan Exhibit D (cont)
Due to the steepness of the ground, nearly 1 : 1 . 5 , the area to be
seeded will be broadcast seeded using the proposed mixture .
The proposed sloping in the quarry stone area is shallower
then what is found on the property now. The series of 30 high
and 30 feet wide benches creted will have an overall slope that
is approximately lh to lv while the natural hill side averages lh
to 1 . 5v. The vertical part of the benches will be solid rock wall
that will be scaled once they are in their final location and
will not be redisturbed. The horizontal parts of the benches
will be left with a slight grade ( z5%) from back to front to
preserve the drainage pattern on the mine site .
These new benches cover approximately 4 . 01 acres of the
mined area and included in this area is approximately 1 . 93 acres
of pre-law spill area that has no soil on it now, so does not
need resoiling or revegetation. If sufficient fines are gener-
ated during processing some may be spread over these benches to
help promote vegetation growth. This leaves 2 . 08 acres that
would need growth medium and there is 3 . 11 acres that has some
soil can be salvaged from. As noted in the soils information
approximately 3350 cubic yards will have been saved for use on
the area to be resoiled. This would place an average of 12 . 0
inches on 2 . 08 acres of the bench area . While this is less then
the area total currently having soil , it is offset by replacing
it deeper on the areas to be resoiled. Also, because some of the
existing soil covered areas will be come part of the landowner
parking area .
Once enough bench area is done and will not be disturbed
again, the salvaged soil will be spread on it . The depth of the
replaced soil will average 12 inches depending on how many benches
need to be vegetated as discussed in this plan. If needed,
fertilizer will be used to enhance the seedbed. It will be spread
on the seedbed and tilled in during seedbed preparation.
Seeding will occur between November 1st and May 15th. Gener-
ally before the first freeze in the fall or after the last freeze
in the spring. Much of the bench area will inaccessible to
drilling equipment so broadcast seeded will be done . The seed
rates will be doubled from what is shown. The seeding mix and
species of grasses to be used on the area are shown on page 7 of
this report . This is a seed mixture prepared by the NRCS for use
in Larimer County. The seed will be obtained from a supplier in
the area so the mix is adapted to local conditions . We also
expect to see a natural invasion of brush, trees, forbs and other
grass species from surrounding areas . No mulch will be used due
50 revised 6/7/18
M I N i N ruv
