Normal water levels are known to be 3-4 feet below the current pit floor. No water will be
encountered in the operation. However, if water is encountered during mining, excavation will
immediately stop and the area will be backfilled with at least 2 feet of overburden to cover the
exposed water.
Mining activities are expected to occur approximately 2 to 3 months per year, while the
processing operations including screening/crushing can occur any time of the year, however
typically during the months of August through November. The mining of the deposit will occur
to the limits shown on Map C-2 and will be mined to a 1H:1 V slope to near vertical slope in
order to maximize gravel recovery. Backfilling with overburden will create shallower 3H:1 V
reclaimed slopes shown on Map F-1. Topsoil will be applied to overburden slopes at a depth of
8-12 inches and seeded with rangeland grasses or with meadow mountain seed mix with like
species of brushes such as sage or oak.
The expected annual average production is 60,000 tons. Actual production rates will fluctuate
based on market conditions. The raw material will be sold as various products: crushed rock,
chips, road base, concrete, and asphalt. "Naturals"or sandy fines from any washing operation
wi I be mixed into overburden and are expected to make up approximately 10%of the raw
material mined. A breakdown of the anticipated product tonnages and mined tonnages and a
breakdown of the estimated areas is discussed below.
Used asphalt pavement and concrete rubble is also stockpiled on site to be used for future
crushing and stockpiling for use as a recycled material in new construction. Occasionally, soil
that is determined to be free of debris and is inert is brought to the site and stockpiled for use
during reclamation.
Mine access will be via County Road 62A accessed from County Roads 62 and 129, as it has
been to this point.
No pit dewatering will take place, as the groundwater table is below the bottom of the pit
elevation shown on Map C-2.No groundwater will be exposed, and if it is encountered, pits will
be backfilled to two feet above groundwater.
Fetcher Vale Pit
Mav 2018 D-2
