Exhibit H Wildlife (cont)
Copies of Sections from BLM Environmental Assessment for amendment area
extremely important to game species as winter range in average winters, but also crucial during
winters of above average snowfall and extreme temperatures.
5.15.2. Environmental Consequences — Proposed Action
The Proposed Action has timing stipulations in place, prohibiting activity from Nov 15 to April
15. This restriction will avoid disturbance to the four big game species that utilize the area in all
types of winter conditions.
5.15.3. Environmental Consequences — No Action Alternative
The No Action Alternative would not require any timing stipulations, as big game and turkeys
would remain unaffected by any noise disturbance in the project area throughout the winter.
5.15.4. Mitigation Measures
Timing restrictions will be required to prevent disturbance to wintering wildlife. The 2015
Kremmling Field Office Resource Management Plan stipulates winter closure for big game
crucial winter range from November 1 to April 30. This is required in order to reduce behavioral
disruption of big game during the winter season on crucial winter habitat. No other mitigations
are required other than proper habitat restoration upon completion of excavation.
DOI-BLM-CO-N020-2017-0034-EA 40
19
