4
approximately 600 square feet of surface disturbance. We intend to follow any valuable
deposits, but the area of active surface disturbance will rarely exceed 600-800 square feet.
Allowing for exploration and expansion, the total disturbance could potentially grow to 1200
square feet, but will NEVER exceed this amount, because we cannot actively mine more than
that with only ourselves and hand tools. If we ever wish to exceed this amount of disturbance,
we will file a Plan of Operations with the South Platte Ranger District, and file a new"is It
Mining?" form with CDRMS.
9. We intend to follow any pockets or veins as deep as we feasibly and safely can with hand
tools, up to and including the point where we may be required to file a Plan of Operations.
However, most excavations will not extend to a depth greater than 10 feet. We currently have
one excavation at our point of discovery that is about 7 feet deep, but it is by far the deepest
area of active exploration.
10. As the usable material is crystals, very little material is actually removed from the site. At our
current rate of extraction, we might remove a cubic yard each five years at the fastest.
11. Extraction currently does not involve the use of explosives, but we are interested in learning
about the use of a system called Sierra Blaster, which utilizes small explosive charges to
fracture rock.
12. The site of extraction will not result in any exposure of tributary ground water.
13. Lost Creek Mining, LLC consists of only the owner-operators of the mine site, and as such
we receive no compensation for the extraction of the minerals. Once extracted we sell the
mineral specimens or the art/jewelery items they will become.
14. We are currently waiting for the approval of our Notice of Intent with the USFS South Platte
Ranger District, to operate for the 2017 mining season. They will review our reclamation efforts
at the end of the season, to determine if we will be required to file a Plan of Operations, and pay
a Bond, for the 2018 season. We have been in direct contact with Amy Titterington, Head
Geologist for Pike/San Isabel National Forests, South Platte Ranger District, regarding this. We
will be happy to provide a copy of the approved NO[ to you when we receive it. In addition to
that, we can also write out a remediation plan and/or sign any sort of form or swom affidavit
which may be required. As we explained to Ms. Titterington, we are a small two man operation,
and we continually reclaim our relatively small surface disturbances as we continue to explore
and mine the claim. The forest is usually quite good at re-vegetation, but if necessary we will
re-seed with native plant species. We intend to reclaim even the historic pits which existed
before we filed the claim. We truly love and respect our National Forest and our State of
Colorado, so we always follow the principles of leave no trace outdoor ethics. We intend to
leave the land better than we found it.
