6. Truck Dump
The truck dump accepted coal from belly dump haul
trucks. The dump was enclosed by a 25 foot wide by
60 foot long by 30 foot tall building. Loaded trucks
approached the dump from the north and positioned
themselves over the dump, inside the building before
discharging their load of coal through the bottom of
their dump beds into a hopper below the building. Both
noise and dust created by the discharge of coal at the
truck dump was controlled by the building enclosure
and the use of a bag house to collect fugitive dust
originated by the transfer of coal, both from the truck to
the hopper and from the hopper to the elevating
conveyor which delivered coal to the silos. Both paved
and gravel surfaced roadways at the entrance and exit
(v of the truck dump were frequently watered to allay
roadway dust. This truck dump operated under the
limitations of the Colorado Department of Health and
Environment Construction Permit 11 DL252-6.
Reclamation Status: The truck dump building and bag
house have been removed from site. Reclamation
activities occurred in 2007. Concrete foundations are
still in place.
7. Silo Elevating Conveyor (R-1)
A 600 foot 48 inch conveyor carried coal from the truck
dump to the top of the silos. The elevating conveyor
rested on bent construction, was covered and was
loaded by a vibratory feeder. The electrically driven
belt was powered at the ground level with a gravity
tensioning system located at ground level near the
drive system.
RN -07 2.05-8 02118
