n 0
EN
Reclamation Status: The R-1 conveyor has been
removed from site. Reclamation activities occurred in
2007. Concrete foundations are still in place.
8, Coal Storage Silos (3)
Three concrete cylindrical silos were used to store up
to 21,000 tons of coal as a reserve live storage facility
for the loading of 115 car unit trains. These coal silos
were fitted with individual bag house dust collection
systems. The silos were filled with coal hauled to the
truck dump, which in turn was delivered to the top of
the silo via the silo elevating conveyor. Two short
conveyors (R-2, R-3) which ran across the top of the
silos could selectively fill each silo. Vibratory feeders
fitted under the base of each silo delivered gravity fed
coal onto the train loadout elevating conveyor. These
coal silos operated under the limitations of the
Colorado Department of Health and Environment
Construction Permit 11 DL252-7.
Reclamation Status: The three silos have been
removed from site. Concrete foundations are still in place.
Train Loadout elevating conveyor (R-4)
The 1,300 foot 72 inch loadout elevating conveyor
carried gravity fed coal from the coal silos to a hopper
located in the train loadout for immediate loading into
rail cars. The gravity fed coal was fed to this belt using
vibratory feeders located under the coal silos. The
electrically driven belt was powered at the ground level
with a gravity tensioning system located at ground level
near the drive system. This train loadout elevating
conveyor operated under the limitations of the
Colorado Department of Health and Environment
Construction Permit 11 DL252-10.
