Summit Brick and Tile Company Fox No 1 Clay Pit
M-1977-219 -Adequacy Response#3 Page 5
provided an updated seed mixture and will likely revise the other 1990 reclamation
recommendations. If NRCS has provided their updated reclamation recommendations to the
Application, please forward these to the Division during the AM-03 review period. If the NRCS
recommendations will not be prepared until after the close of the AM-03 review period, please
commit to submitting theses as a Technical Revision to the approved Reclamation Plan.
I contacted the NRCS again on January 8 , 2018 and have
received no reply. If the NRCS sends recommendations that
substantially change the ones on file, after the close of
the AM-03 review period, Summit Brick will supply the
report to the Division as a Technical Revision to the
approved Reclamation Plan.
EXHIBIT F -Reclamation Plan Map (Rule 6.4.6):
57. The Division believes the cross section on the Exhibit F Reclamation Plan Map incorrectly shows
the clay seam intact under the backfill, which also results in errors associated with the backfill
volumes in the December 20, 2017 Exhibit L. Please confirm that the clay seam will be mined and
update this cross section.
Attached is a revised copy of Map Exhibit F - Reclamation
Plan Map with the corrected cross section for the file .
If mining ended prematurely then there may be a small
section of the clay has was not mined up to the rock face
but for discussion the clay will be removed prior to
reconstruction of the fill slope .
EXHIBIT L—Reclamation Costs (Rule 6.4.12):
58. The Division has completed the Financial Warranty calculation for the proposed operation. Using
the proposed AM-03 Mining and Reclamation Plans, the reclamation cost estimate has been
calculated in the amount of$213,000.00. Please review the enclosed figures as soon as possible and
contact our office if you have any questions or find any calculation errors.
We have reviewed the Divisions bond estimate and
understand the basis for the unit volumes . We reserve
the right to file Technical Revisions to address
revisions to the slope setback distances and a highwall
stability analysis and ask for a reduction should it be
warranted.
