EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
The main source of water in the mining areas was expected to come from
minor surface water runoff. However, in 2005 groundwater was encountered in
Stage 2 during mining. The Laramie and Fox Hills Formations are being mined at
the Chieftain South Mine, therefore is it most likely that the water encountered is
issuing from the Laramie Fox Hills Aquifer. Consequently, there is a year round
pond in the mine.
A gravel well permit application was sent to the State Engineer's Office
(SEO) on September 28, 2007. General Shale disagreed with SEO's proposed
water thickness and a new application was sent to the SEO on December 29, 2010.
On September 25, 2011, the SEO issued well permit number 74957-F. General
Shale then adjudicated the water for the Chieftain South Mine and the Chieftain
North Mine for the properties they own on May 3, 2012. As part of the
adjudication findings General Shale was required to file a new water well permit
on July 17, 2012. SEO then issued a new well permit 76233-F, which is in place
currently.
General Shale has obtained a discharge permit from the Colorado
Department of Health and Environment COG-501518 to allow dewatering of the
mine and stormwater discharges from the mine.
Stormwater from Green Mountain, located north of the mine, historically
originated from the northeast corner of the mine and discharged near the southwest
corner of the mine. In the mid 1990's a diversion berm was constructed to keep the
mine area dry from the Green Mountain Stormwater. After the construction of the
berm, the Green Mountain stormwater was discharged at the southeast corner of
the mine. This was not an issue until the Solterra Subdivision Filing 13 was
constructed. Solterra notified General Shale of the issue and General Shale will
construct a ditch to carry the Green Mountain stormwater from the southeast
26 Revised December 2017
