November 15, 2017 C-1996-083/Bowie No. 2 Mine CCW <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> <br />There were minor rills forming on the top of the pile; the rills ar e not large enough to warrant repair. <br /> <br />Work on Gob Pile 3 has concluded for the season. Work on the pile will resume in the late spring of 2018, when <br />conditions allow. The top of the pile has been spread and compacted. The west drying area has been excavated <br />and has been partially returned, spread and compacted. No new refuse is being placed on the pile. The out slopes <br />of the pile are in good repair, only minor rilling has occurred. The diversion ditches and perimeter ditches were <br />clear of debris and capable of functioning as designed. The top of the pile had no low spots were water could <br />pond. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) <br />Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) <br />Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) <br />Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> The haul road consists of a paved portion that leads from the D portals Bench to the wash plant and coal <br />stockpile pad. This section of the road was in good repair. The ditches were clear of debris and functioning as <br />designed. The un-paved portion of the haul road runs from the wash plant to the top of Gob Pile 2. The road was <br />generally in good condition. Minor rutting was observed during the inspection. The access road leading to the <br />Terror Creek Vent Shaft Pad was well maintained. There were no erosional issues identified. The water bars on <br />the access roads were in good condition. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> Support facilities inspected include: <br /> <br />- Utilities bench: <br /> The water tank, mine vent fans and the substation a re located on the utilities bench. The berms on the bench <br />were intact and in good repair. Water is channeled into diversion ditches. The ditches were dry at the time of the <br />inspection. No debris ere located in the ditches and the culverts were clear. <br /> <br />- D Portals Bench: <br /> The shop and fuel storage area were well kept and organized. The upper coal stockpile has been removed and <br />the pad area has been graded to the contours outlined in the pad design. There were no erosional issues noted. <br />The D Portals have been sealed and security fencing has been placed outside of the portals ’ entrance. The ditches <br />were functioning as designed and clear of debris. The culverts were in good repair. <br /> <br />- B Portals Bench: <br /> The B portals bench was well kept and organ ized. The perimeter ditches were fee from obstructions and <br />functioning as designed. The berms were intact, no erosional issues were noted. <br /> <br />- Coal Stockpile Pad: <br /> All coal from the stockpile pad has been shipped, there is no remaining coal stockpiled on the pad. The pad has <br />been graded and there were no erosional features forming. The berms were in good repair and functioning as
