November 15, 2017 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine CCW

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2

of the lowest contour of the site, Sediment logs and silt fencing was put in place to help control the amount of
sediment leaving the site. The sediment logs and silt fence was in in good repair during the inspection (Photo 2).
There was evidence of flow that had gone through the sediment control features. Below th e site there was no
evidence of new sediment being deposited from the reclaimed area.

- ROM Pile Pond:
The ROM Pond was backfilled and regraded in August of 2017. The Pond was reseeded and covered with a
straw mat in October 2017. The reclaimed sit e was stable and there were no indications of erosion. The lowest
contours of the pond had silt fencing, berms and straw bales placed on them to control sediment from leaving the
site. The straw bales were staked into the ground at the lowest point of th e site. The bales help treat runoff before
it leaves the site. The straw bales were in good condition at the time of the inspection. There were no breaches in
the silt fencing or the berms. The access road to the pond was reclaimed at the same time as the pond. The straw
mat was in good condition and there were no erosional features observed. On the lowest contours of the reclaimed
road, sediment logs were placed to control and treat runoff. The sediment logs were in good repair.

- Binwall Pond 1:
The reclamation work for Binwall Pond 1 was completed in August and October 2017. The reclaimed site was
stable with no indications of erosion. The straw mat was in good condition and helping to prevent the erosion of
the recently reseeded area. The re-contoured channel was functioning as designed to pass the runoff from the
surrounding natural drainage through the reclaimed site.

- Binwall Pond 2(Photo 3):
Reclamation activities conducted at Binwall Pond 2 included regrading and reseeding the site. The activities
were completed in August and October of 2017. The site was stable and there were no erosional features
identified. The straw mat was in good condition; there were no areas where the mat had shifted or torn. The
regraded channel closely resembles the surrounding natural drainage. There was evidence of a recent flow in the
channel and there were no indications of flow breaching the channel.

- Binwall Pond 3:
Reclamation activities at this site were conducted in August and Octob er 2017. The reseeding and mulching
activities observed during the October 2017 inspection had been completed. The site has been fully reseeded and
the straw mat had been placed. The site was stable and no erosion was noted. The straw mat was functioning as
designed to help stabilize the regraded hillsides. The re-contoured channel showed evidence of recent flows and
was in good condition; no breaches in the channel were seen.

- Binwall Pond 4:
Pond 4 was regraded in August of 2017 and then res eeded in October of 2017. The site was stable with no
erosional issues. The straw mats on the hillslopes were in good condition . The bottom of the pond was re-
c ontoured to resemble the surrounding natural drainage. There was evidence of recent flow s in the channel. There
were no signs that the flow had breached the channel. There is a series of hay bales and silt fences at the lowest
point of the site (Photo 4). The hay bales were placed in the channel to help reduce the amount of sediment
