The inspection was <br />completed by Clayton Wein of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the Division). There was no <br />company representative present for the inpection. The weather was clear turning to partly cloudy skys. The <br />ground conditions were dry. <br />AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1): <br /> The records for the Bowie No. 1 Mine are kept at the Bowie No. 2 Mine office in Bowie, Colorado. The <br />records were well kept and in good condition. Please see the Availability of Records form attached to the end of <br />this report for more details . <br /> <br />BACKFILL and GRADING – Rule 4.14 <br />Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); <br />Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br /> During August of 2017, six of the ponds were backfilled and regraded. The ROM Pond, Waste Pile Pond <br />and all four of the Binwall Ponds were backfilled and regraded to the contours approved in the permit. The ponds’ <br />embankments were removed and the remaining material was blended into the surrounding hill sides. Noted in the <br />September 2017 inspection report, the bottom of the binw all ponds had been contoured to resemble the <br />surrounding natural drainage. For more details on these locations please see the Hydrologic Balance section of the <br />September 2017 Complete Inspection Report. <br />The six reclaimed ponds at the Bowie No. 1 Mine were inspected. Details on each site are included below: <br /> <br />- Waste Pile Pond (Photo 1): <br /> The Waste Pile pond was backfilled and regraded in august of 2017 and then reseeded in October of 2017. <br />Seeding activities included spreading the approved seed mix and then covering the reclaimed area with a straw <br />mat. The mat had some small rocks placed on it in areas to help keep it in place. The reclaimed area was stable <br />with no indications of erosion. The straw mat was in good condition and functioning as designed. At the location
