Table D-2 Mining Timetable
Step Time to Complete
Mine Out Pit 6 years
Final Reclamation 0.5 years
Total 6.5 years
3. Mine Facilities and Operation
The following activities will take place at the Ready Mix Pit:
• Excavation
• Crushing and screening
• Washing of rock
• Asphalt manufacture
• Concrete manufacture
Equipment to support these activities will include portable plants, excavators, and haul trucks.
4. Topsoil and Overburden Handling
Overburden is practically non-existent on the site. Any that is found will be stripped and placed in
the currently finished pits. The currently mined out areas of the permit on the eastern portion of the
permit have already been stripped of topsoil, which is already stockpiled along the west side of the
existing mining area. During reclamation of the existing mined out areas, this topsoil will be used.
Topsoil stripped from the new mining area will be similarly stockpiled in berms along the west side
of the new mining area. Assuming an average of three inches of topsoil (zero to six inches of
topsoil are expected) in the new mining area, roughly 3000 CY of topsoil will be stripped.
5. Water Handling
Pit dewatering will be necessary to mine to depths desired by United. Perimeter dewatering ditches
will be installed below the operational floor of the pit, and a dewatering pump placed at the low
point of these ditches to facilitate dewatering.
