• Constructing the Base of Operations (see Figure D-3); <br />• Installing fuel storage areas, as needed, at the Base of Operations, May Day No. 1 and May Day <br />No. 2 benches (all with secondary spill volume containment); <br />• Locating portable toilets, as needed, at the Base of Operations, May Day No. 1 and May Day <br />No. 2; <br />• Establishing three equipment and ore stockpile staging areasl; <br />• Establishing access road truck turnouts; <br />• Renovating the La Plata River Bridge with a load bearing capacity of 27 tons (see At <br />D-2); <br />• Removing surface debris for offsite disposal; <br />• Recycling scrap metal; <br />• Salvaging the historic mill equipment located on the May Day No. 1 mine bench and salvaging <br />the equipment within the Idaho Warehouse building (originally constructed to house a mill); <br />• Conducting underground exploration using grab sample and core drilling techniques; <br />• Mining and transporting May Day No. 1 ore; <br />• Performing routine equipment and mine maintenance activities at the Base of Operations; <br />• Installing and maintaining: <br />o an entrance gate; <br />o fences (property boundary parallel to the La Plata River); <br />o visual and sound barriers,; <br />o signs (entrance and speed limit signs); <br />• Maintaining Best Management Practices (BMPs) structures, and road surfaces and grades <br />• Establishing and maintaining site security. <br />The total affected mine area within the permit area is approximately 45.7 acres (Figure D-1) and includes <br />the following: <br />• Base of Operations includes the New Access Road across to the La Plata River Bridge — 3.1 <br />acres; <br />• May Day No. 1 Portal and Bench — 3.2 acres; <br />• May Day No. 1 East — 0.8 acres; <br />• May Day No. 2 Portal and Bench — 3.3 acres; <br />• May Day No. 2 East — is 0.5 acres; <br />• Pay Day Idaho —16.5 acres; <br />• Chief — 0.5 acres; <br />• May Day No. 3 — 5.0 acres; <br />• Pre -Existing Roads —12.8 acres <br />' Base of Operations ore stockpile staging area will temporarily store up to 1,000 cubic yards (see Figure D-3).
