The predominant geologic unit in the footprint is undifferentiated Precambrian (Proterozoic)
granodiorite.
Primary vegetation units identified in the footprint are natural grassland and brush/montane scrub.
Typical wildlife species observed to be present. Wildlife usage of the area is considered minimal due to
the limited quantity and quality of the vegetation. Habitiat designation, per Colorado Division of
Wildlife mapping is a low impact area.
Wildfire hazard area designation is low moderate.
Design
The new overlook would utilize the existing parking lot access as permitted with CDOT. The current
parking lot would be enlarged and a new driveway out would be built to get vehicles up to the top of
Little Grouse Mountain. The driveway, stormwater controls and parking lots were designed by Haley
and Aldrich, Inc. of Greenwood Village,Colorado. Please see enclosed approved for construction
drawing set and construction specifications enclosed with application.
Historic Structures
CCVGMC is planning to relocate some of the historic structures and equipment from the AE Overlook to
the new overlook. Relocation will involve dismantling, shipping and reassembling. Adequate
foundations will be constructed for the structures.
Schedule
CCVGMC proposes a three year schedule for construction starting in 2017.
Construction Impacts
Import of construction materials will utilize existing approved truck routes. Tracking pads will be utilized
to minimize impact on Highway 67. Sweeping of Highway 67 be done at the end of construction days as
requested by CDOT personnel.
