MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C (CONT)
the north side of SH 69. Then follow the private road 1675 feet
Follow SHW 160 west thru Walsenburg for 7.5 miles to a private
road on the north side of SH 69. Then follow the private road
1675 feet ± north to the mine. Mr.& Mrs. Vezzani own all the
property within 200 feet of the permit line.
The entrance to this site is on an existing road that
accesses the site from SH 160 to the south. This road is shown
on the mining and reclamation plan maps and is currently used to
access the existing mine. When mining ends the road way will be
graded as it serves as access to other parts of the landowners
property.
We anticipate the life of this mine to be for the length of
the contract, 12 months or less. The Walsenburg Sand and Gravel
Company has a contract with Tricon 2 LLC to supply 35,000 tons of
material for State Highway Project SHE160A-031 to be completed on
State Highway 160. The CDOT contract: runs from April 18, 2017
until project is complete in late September 2017. Stripping from
this borrow area is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2017 or when
the permit is issued.
The site is currently used by the landowners as rangeland
and commercial used associated with the Leased concrete batch
plant area. Of the 12.00 acre ± in the permit area, approxi-
mately 10.94 acre ± will be mining area, and the remaining 1.06
acres ± will be setbacks maintained from the permit lines. This
site is on the north facing side of a minor ridgeline that
parallels the south side of the ephemeral drainage called Sand
Arroyo. The intent is to work into this slope and blend the
excavated slopes with the existing slopes on the surrounding area
as shown on Exhibit E-2, Reclamation Plan Map.
The material is a gravelly sandy dirt suitable for use as
fill on the highway project. The upper 0 to 4 inches of material
will be saved for use in reclamation and placed either in the
setbacks around the mined area or on the floor of the excavated
area as mining progresses. When encountered it will be stripped
and stockpiled around the site for use in reclamation. If the
soil stockpiles remain undisturbed for more than one growing
season a cover crop of Western Wheatgrass will be planted at a
rate of 3.0 pls/200 Ft2.
Approximately 3.03 acres of the site has been disturbed and
contains no topsoil. Stockpiles of topsoil will be stored around
the mined area until it is needed and some growth medium may be
returned from the highway project to the mine to supplement what
is available. This will only be done IF it is available. The
16
