SITE DESCRIPTION EXHIBIT B (CONT)
PERMANENT MAN-MADE STRUCTURES
The only man-made structures within 200 feet of the affected
lands are dirt roads that cross the site. The roads are owned by
the Vezzani's and are used by The Walsenburg Sand and Gravel
Company as access to the existing mine and the Concrete Batch
Plant operator's access to their plant. One of these roads will
be the main haul route we use to get the material to State
Highway 160 and from there to the project site. There are no
above or below ground power or communication lines, bridges,
wells, pipelines, water storage impoundments, railroad tracks,
cemeteries or communication antennas within 200 feet of the
affected lands. A mining setback of 15 feet will be maintained
around the site. All exterior slopes will be excavated at their
final rate of 3h to lv as mining progresses or will daylight out
the side of the ridge line running thru the permit area
WATER RESOURCES
There are no water structures on or adjacent to the site.
The Sand Arroyo lies approximately 150 north of the mine. This
water course is an ephemeral stream bed, that carries water only
during heavy storm events. The base of the mined area will be
above the top of the stream bed so mining will not reach the
ground water table. No ground water will be exposed and no
surface or subsurface water will be impacted by this mining
operation. This is a dry mining operation that will remove
material from the ridge line that bisects the permit area and
running parallel to the ephemeral drainage.
Review of well data on the surrounding area indicates the
water table is from 12 to 15 feet below the Sand Arroyo's dry
creek bed in this area. We do not expect to encounter ground
water on this site because the mine floor elevation will be 15 to
30 feet above the drainage floor. The water used at this site is
obtained from water that is purchased from The Town of Walsenburg
at the concrete batch plant. We expect to use less then 1.0 ac -
ft for dust control at the mine during mining. we will not
affect the hydrologic balance of surface or subsurface water in
the area.
MINING PLAN
EXHIBIT C
6.3.3 - This is an open pit mine located 7.5 southwest of
Walsenburg Colorado, on Colorado State Highway (SH) 160. To
reach the site, take I-25 to the main Walsenburg exit. Follow
SHw 160 west thru Walsenburg for 7.5 miles to a private road on
15
