P
6. MONITORING AND SAMPLING
The ultimate receiving water for the pit dewatering activities is the St, Charles River. Storm water will be
pumped from the quarry sedimentation pond to an unnamed arroyo.
Storm water discharges will be monitored and sampled by the SWMP Administrator or personnel qualified
to determine the quality of such discharge. As required by the Part I.B.1.b. of the Permit samples will be
obtained two days per month when a discharge occurs. Samples will be taken at the outlet of the
pump/hose used to remove water retained in the sedimentation pond. Storm water samples will be tested
for pH, total suspended solids(TSS) oil and grease Estimated storm water flow rate will be determined
and recorded on the sampling record.
Any source of pollutants contaminating storm water runoff from the quarry will be identified and steps
taken to reduce to acceptable levels, or eliminate the contaminant from entering the runoff flow. The
actions taken to identify pollution sources will be identified and described in an inspection report.
15
