r <br /> 7. GOOD HOUSEKEEPING <br /> Good housekeeping activities, which consist of continuous observation and cleanup, are part of quarry <br /> operations. Good housekeeping includes the following: <br /> • Inspection of liquid storage areas for indication of leaking containers <br /> • Adherence to policy related to garbage disposal <br /> • Seasonal cleanup following winter season as need becomes evident <br /> • Removal of abandoned equipment from the site <br /> • Posting clean-up procedures and notification on hazardous storage sites <br /> The Quarry Manager is responsible for the use of good housekeeping practices, records of incidents of <br /> significant spills and the steps taken for clean up and equipment maintenance records. Such records will <br /> be maintained and readily available for inspection by any regulatory agency upon request. <br /> Cover, Elevate, and Divert <br /> General rules to follow to prevent pollution of storm water are: <br /> 1. Place materials and equipment that can contribute to releases of hazardous or polluting material <br /> in areas where they can be covered by structures or tarps during storage. <br /> 2. Elevate materials and equipment above the surrounding landforms on pallets or high ground to <br /> reduce the possibility of storm water runoff inundating the material. <br /> 3. Establish and maintain diversion structures as necessary. <br /> 16 <br />
