1.6 INSTALLATION -ELECTRICAL
The retort has been pre -wired at the factory
Wiring Diagram for details. Ensure that
adequately grounded.
Refer to the Electrical Schematic and Field
the disconnect switch and the retort are
Connect the main power supply (480/3/60) to the input lugs located inside the SCR/Control
Panel.
The heating elements have all been wired for a balanced and equal load on each phase.
After the retort is installed and before connection to the SCR drive, check the following:
1. Check each heating element for a dead short circuit to ground.Only a high
resistance should be indicated (this is due to normal leakage through the refractory)
or if the refractory isslightly damp there may be a small voltage produced between
the heating elements and equipment ground which also proves the absence of any
short-circuits to ground.
2. Check for a balanced resistance between all three phases of thesplitter.
3. See the Equipment Data Sheet in Section VI for the line -to -line resistance and line
current values.
4. Some thermocouples and temperature transmittershave been shipped separately.
Install and wire the temperature transmitters as shown on the Electrical Schematic.
5. The warning beacon light on top of the control panel has been disconnected for
shipping. Replace the light bulb and reconnect as shown on the Electrical Schematic.
11
