1.6.1 SCR Drive Calibration
The SCRdrive calibration should be checked during startup. See the manufacturer's
literature in Section IV. Failure to calibrate the SCR may result in the following:
1. Possible output when the temperature controller calls for zero output (resulting in
slower cooling time because heating elements remain partially on).
2. Less than full output when the temperature controller calls for full output (slower
heating time because heating elements are never fully on).
n
DANGER
The SCR drive and heating elements are electrically hot as long as power is
applied through the transformers and the disconnect switches. Turn off all
disconnect switches during maintenance.
1.6.2 Vacuum Pumps
Before operating the vacuum pumps for the first time after connection of the main power,
remove the coupling guards and the couplings between the motor and the vacuum pumps.
With the pumps disconnected, bump the motors to check proper rotation, as indicated by
the arrow on the pumps. If the rotation is incorrect, reverse two of the motor leads, after
disconnecting the main power.
Before replacing the drive coupling to the pump, double check the rotation of the motor for
correct direction.
ANOTICE
Rotating the vacuum pumps in the wrong direction will cause damage to the
pump blades, requiring removal and replacement of the vanes. When in doubt
about the correct rotation, disconnect the flexible coupling between the motor
and the pump, before applying power to the pump.
12
