4. Vegetation
The vegetation on site is the typical rangeland grasses for this area. Cover is estimated to be
between 30-40%.
5. Wildlife
Forage and cover for wildlife is very limited due to the and climate. Small animals (rabbits,
foxes, etc.) make use of the surrounding environment. The site is within overall range for elk,
black bear, mountain lion, and mule deer. Impacts to wildlife will be mitigated through a weed
management plan and reseeding the rangeland with a diverse seed mix. Also, the site is disturbed
for a short time.
6. Structures
Structures are shown on Map E-1. A list of structures within 200 feet of the permit area can be
found in Exhibit L. Damage waivers for these structures can also be found in Exhibit L. The
structures will remain unchanged throughout mining and reclamation.
7. Soils
The USDA soil map is included in Appendix 1. The site is roughly delineated on this map. The
whole site is in two soil types:
• Teoculli-Cabin-Pierian association: Well drained and excessively drained, deep soils on
depositional landforms.
• Schofield-Tex-Stecum association: Well drained somewhat excessively drained,
moderately shallow and deep soils on glacial moraines and valley sides.
The Teoculli association is on the upper portions of the hillside, with the Schofield association
nearer to the riparian areas and drainages.
Cottonwood Pass 2/28/2017 B-2 Grog Lrwirki mW AswietM PIJA:
