SITE DESCRIPTION EXHIBIT B
1. Location and General Land Use Information
The site is located east of Taylor Park Reservoir on Cottonwood Pass Road. The site is
surrounded by high altitude rangeland and open space. Prior to excavation, the site was dry
rangeland.
2. Site Geology
The site geology consists of topsoil overlaying glacial aggregate material. The excavation will
not be going farther than 15 feet down at its deepest. There are no hazardous or acid forming
materials expected to be encountered during excavation. The entire site is located above granitic
formations of the Precambrian era, in glacial moraines and fans. See the NRCS soil report in
Appendix 1 for more details.
3. Surface Hydrology
Prior to mining, the site was sloping at roughly 7% to the west towards some wetlands and
riparian area. The pre -mine topography of the site is shown on Map E-1. All of the runoff on site
would flow towards the gulch to the southwest, eventually reaching Taylor Park Reservoir.
Stormwater is kept from the disturbance area of the borrow pit with berms that surround said pit.
The compacted earth berm that accomplishes this is shown on Map E-2.
The water resource that currently receives water from the permit area is the Taylor Park
Reservoir.
Ground water will not be exposed during mining.
Cottonwood Pass 2/28/2017 B-1 Greg Lewktiand AssociatMPWd:
