SOP#NMS-ANA-SOP-SWDC REV#1.1 Title:Solid Wst.Disposal Characterization Effective Date 10/11/2012
6.5. pH 4.0 Standardized Buffer
6.6. pH 7.0 Standardized Buffer
6.7. pH 10.0 Standardized Buffer
6.8. Sodium Hydroxide Solution, 1.00N NaOH
6.8.1. Add 500ml of DI water to a 1000m1 beaker and stir on stir plate. Slowly add to
the closest pellet 40.Og of NaOH. Let pellets dissolve completely. After
solution has cooled, bring volume to 1000ml with DI water. Transfer solution
to a properly labeled plastic container
6.9. Sodium Hydroxide Pellets
7. SAMPLE COLLECTION, PRESERVATION, STORAGE
7.1. Dry samples should be stored at room temp in solid sample receiving and wet
samples should be stored in the analytical refrigerator found in the solid sample
receiving room. To adequately simulate the natural leaching processes at work in
the ore, the sample should be ran as received.
7.2. Leachate should be stored in the analytical liquid receiving after being preserved.
8. QUALITY CONTROL
8.1. An extraction blank should be carried through the extraction process with every
batch for both extraction fluids
9. CALIBRATION AND STANDARDIZATION
9.1. The pH meter should be calibrated with 3-points, pH 4.0, pH 7.0, and pH 10
standardized solutions. If some measurements are found to be significantly
outside of this range (<2 pH) it is necessary to recalibrate the pH meter using
another standard that will accommodate the additional range.
10. PROCEDURE
NOTE: All data must be recorded in SPLP\SWDC Lab book, located in the wet lab.
10.1. Determination of%Moisture
10.1.1. Dry sample pan to constant weight at 104°C. Cool in a vacuum desiccator
and record weight to + 0.1 g.
10.1.2. Place 1 Og of sample to be tested into each pan and record weight to + 0.1 g.
10.1.3. Dry at 104°C for 16-20 hours recording the drying duration. Record final
weight.
Plato Malozemoff Technical Facility i Newmont Metallurgical Services
The information contained in this report is confidential and proprietary. 3
