AA Natural Soda LLC 2016 Project Status Report & Annual Plan of Development
' 6.3 Reclamation Activity
6.3.1 Regrading & Scarification
Regrading and scarification activities occurred in 2016 at the BG-8 and 15H-SSMW well
pads to support final reclamation. Additionally, the small mud pits on both well pads
were filled and regraded in the fall of 2016.
' 6.3.2 Seeding & Weed Control
The majority of seeding activity in 2016 focused on the areas disturbed following the
2014 RDP project. A few of the abandoned 2014 RDP well pads that were previously
' reseeded, were observed to be supporting weed populations in 2015. NS applied weed
control, and reseeded these pads in the spring of 2016. NS will continue monitoring the
2014 RDP and 2015 P&A disturbed areas to control weeds and reseed if necessary.
' Additionally, the freshly recontoured surfaces of the BG-8 and 15H-SSMW well pads
were reseeded with the BLM approved final seed mix. NS also applied interim seed mix
to the 15H/17H slopes and spoil piles to stabilize and minimize erosion. The
' 2016 Vegetation Monitoring Reclamation Status Report prepared by Mr. Rusty Roberts
can found in Appendix D of this report.
' 6.3.3 Reclamation Fencing
Repair and maintenance was performed, as necessary, on existing fences in 2016 as
' needed. Fencing is utilized to keep livestock and wildlife out of the reclaimed areas.
6.3.4 Precipitation
' NS installed a Pulsar Weather Station in February 2016 to improve weather monitoring
and recording in the vicinity of the plant. Based on perennial vegetation, which is an
indicator of long-term precipitation, the "normal" precipitation for the NS site is 12-14
' inches for the calendar year. The distribution of precipitation is important for proper
reclamation. Table 9 provides a composite of precipitation from the NS mine site:
O,Ay}UpB&ASSOCIATES. INC. . 25 January 2017
