One female deer was reported as struck and killed in 2016. Three other deer: one female, one male, one unknown sex, were reported as being struck by vehicles, but the deer ran off. 6.5 Raptor Survey In 2016 NS conducted a raptor breeding activity survey and inventory in the pinion- juniper habitat that was proximal to the planned 2016 and 2017 well field development areas. The survey was performed on May 23, 2016 by Daub & Associates, Inc. The intent of the raptor study was to identify raptor breeding areas/nests prior to well field ' development. The BLM White River Field Office assisted by identifying areas which provide the most suitable raptor nesting habitat within the 2016 and 2017 project areas. ' Surveyors walked predetermined transect paths checking all suitable trees for nests and higher accumulations of woody debris under trees. Call-playback techniques were used In conjunction with pedestrian surveys using the Kennedy Stahlecker-Rinker method. ' GPS track logs were collected from all transects surveyed. Three nests were observed during the pedestrian transect surveys. All nests were observed for condition and activity. Photographs were taken of the GPS coordinates, nest, nest tree, and nest ' stand. One of these nests was a newly identified active Common Raven nest. The other two nests showed no sign of activity. No active raptor nests were found within the survey area.
