2014 BRB PSCM-1 Phase III
Concentrated Area Density
2513.1 2043.7 53 49 1.282
2014 BRB PSCM-1 Phase III
2012 Woody Plant Density Success Evaluation
The background density of 773.0 stems per acre observed in the 2012 BRB PSCM-2 Phase III
bond release area exceeded the 180 stems per acre performance standard. The mean of 2,068.0
stems per acre observed in the woody plant density concentration areas also exceeds the 1800
stems per acre performance standard. The combined total aerial extent of woody density
concentration areas was 44.8 acres, or approximately 10.6% of the BRB PSCM-2 Phase III bond
release block (422 acres). Hence the standard that there would be at least 5% of the Phase III
BRB block with at least 2,000 stems per acre (90% of the standard equals 1800 stems per acre)
has been met for 2012.
A t-test using the "reverse null hypothesis" asserting that the 2012 BRB PSCM-2 Phase III
background woody plant density is greater than 90% of the standard is as follows:
tc _ r — (0.9 * tecimical standard)
s
r f2
t,,,, = (773 — 180) / (1489.3 / X53) = 2.899
Since critical table = 0.849 (one -tailed, alpha = 0.2, 52 df) and tcac of 2.899 is greater than this
critical value, reclamation success for Phase III background shrub density in 2012 is
demonstrated.
A t-test using the "reverse null hypothesis" asserting that the 2012 BRB PSCM-2 Phase III
concentration area woody plant density is greater than 90% of the standard is as follows:
tt = x — (0.9 *technical standard)
V)
t«,, = (2068 — 1800) / (2517.2 / q53) = 0.'775
