6. The ENGINEER and OWNER'S representative shall be informed of all field <br /> changes to the approved Construction Drawings. Acceptance for the changes <br /> shall be required from both the ENGINEER and OWNER'S representative <br /> prior to the changes being made in the field. <br /> 1.03 JOB CONDITIONS <br /> A. Drainage and Groundwater <br /> l. Maintain excavations and trenches free from water during construction. <br /> 2. Remove water encountered in the trench to the extent necessary to provide a <br /> firm subgrade, to permit joints to be made in the dry, and to prevent the <br /> entrance of water into the pipeline. <br /> 3. Divert surface runoff and use sumps,gravel blankets,well points,drain lines <br /> or other means necessary to accomplish the above. <br /> 4. Maintain the excavation or trench free from water until the structure,or pipe <br /> to be installed therein, is completed to the extent that no damage from <br /> hydrostatic pressure,flotation,or other cause will result. <br /> a. Piping used to drain water from the trench shall not be left in the <br /> trench when backfilled. <br /> 5. Groundwater barriers shall be installed if deemed necessary by the City. <br /> 6. Groundwater shall be prevented from entering into previously constructed <br /> pipe. <br /> 7. The pipe under construction shall not be used for dewatering. <br /> 8. CONTRACTOR shall obtain all necessary permits and authorization in <br /> writing prior to starting dewatering operations. <br /> a. If groundwater will be discharged into an irrigation ditch, pond, <br /> stream, or waterway, or will drain into an irrigation ditch, pond, <br /> stream, or waterway, a Colorado Department of Public Health and <br /> Environment dewatering permit will be required. <br /> (1) Permit applications may take up to 30 days to be reviewed <br /> by the State. <br /> (2) CONTRACTOR is required to complete and process the <br /> Discharge Monitoring Report(DMR)that is typically a part <br /> of the dewatering permit. <br /> b. Upon finishing the work, the CONTRACTOR shall be responsible <br /> for completing a Colorado Department of Public Health and <br /> Environment Discharge Termination Notice. <br /> Boyd Freeman Ditch Improvements 02320-2 Trenching,Backfilling and <br /> August 2005 Compacting <br />
