SECTION 02320 <br /> TRENCHING,BACKFILLING AND COMPACTING <br /> PART GENERAL <br /> 1.01 SCOPE <br /> A. This section covers excavation and trenching, including drainage, preparation of <br /> subgrades, pipe bedding, backfilling, compacting, and finish grading for underground <br /> pipelines and appurtenances. <br /> 1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Soil compaction tests shall be performed in accordance with: <br /> 1. AASHTO T99 Method A The Moisture-Density Relations of Soils Using a <br /> 2.5 kg(5.5 lb)Rammer and a 305 mm(12 in.)Drop,latest revision. <br /> 2. ASTM D698 Standard Test Method for Laboratory Compaction <br /> Characteristics of Soil Using Standard Effort (12,400 ft-lbf/ft3 (600kN- <br /> m/m3)), latest revision. <br /> 3. ASTM D2922 Standard Test Methods for Density of Soils and Soil- <br /> Aggregate in Place by Nuclear Methods(Shallow Depth),latest revision. <br /> 4. ASTM D3017 Standard Test Method for Water Content of Soil and Rock in <br /> Place by Nuclear Methods(Shallow Depth),latest revision. <br /> B. Construction Staking <br /> 1. Construction staking shall be performed under the direct supervision of a <br /> Professional Land Surveyor licensed in the State of Colorado. <br /> 2. Adequate staking shall be provided to establish acceptable horizontal and <br /> vertical control. <br /> 3. Offsets shall be staked so that vertical and horizontal alignment may be <br /> checked by the OWNER'S representative. <br /> 4. All survey notes and construction staking notes shall be entered into bound, <br /> hard cover field books and shall be made available to the city upon request. <br /> 5.
