letter from the ranch manager to the Division and therefore not reclaimed to original contour; the
pond and access road were nevertheless re -seeded to control erosion.
Mr. Weaver conducted some site reclamation in 1993, 1994, and 1995. Following permit
revocation and bond forfeiture in February of 1996, the Division completed reclamation of the
site in the summer and fall of 1996 in accordance with the site's approved reclamation plan.
Work involved sealing the access portal and the fan portal south of the road, backfilling the
portals and yard area with material from bench areas, and grading the backfill to the approved
post -mining topography. Mine structures and electrical utilities were demolished and removed.
One to two inches of topsoil was redistributed over the graded area, followed by seeding, planting
and mulching in October of 1996. The sediment pond, access road, and ditch areas were also
seeded. Some re -seeding was conducted by the Division in 2006.
Six to twelve inches of topsoil were removed and stockpiled during sediment pond construction.
The pond and topsoil stockpile were retained as permanent features and not reclaimed. The
topsoil stockpile currently exhibits stable vegetation.
Table 1.
