Documentation. This would suggest that as required, over 10% of the bond release block
exceeded the concentration area standard (as was confirmed in 2015 sampling, see below).
For informational purposes, data from the 2014 concentration area have been separated into
those from the fenced area (Supplemental Table C, Attachment E) and those from the planted
area that was unfenced (Supplemental Table D, Attachment E). Please refer to Map 3, 2014
Phase III BRB-1 monitoring areas contained in Attachment D — Revegetation Success
Supporting Documentation. For the fenced area (Supplemental Table A, Attachment E), the
average total woody plant density of 6054 stems per acre far exceeds the required level of 945
stems per acre under Secondary Standard S1. Even though the samples in the fenced area were
13, thirteen short of the requisite 30 for a formal test of the "reverse null hypothesis", the lower
90% confidence limit for the mean is 4799 stems per acre, so far in excess of the standard of 945
that there is functionally very little doubt as to the validity of the conclusion that the standard
was exceeded. In addition, tall shrubs and trees averaged 174 stems per acre but no standard for
this component is required under Secondary Standard S1. Further sampling in 2015 addresses
the tall shrub and tree requirement and achievement of this requirement. The planted but
unfenced area (Supplemental Table D) shows that for that portion of the unfenced concentration
area where the mean was 4675 stems per acre that the standard of 1000 stems per acre was far
exceeded. The lower 90% confidence limit of 3851 stems per acre. Even with a sample size of
seventeen this leaves little doubt that the P2 standard was well -exceeded in this small unfenced
concentration planting area.
2015 Woodv Plant Densitv Success Evaluation
Woody plant density concentration area data were collected in Yoast Mine BRB-1 in 2015 both
from the Fenced Upland Shrub and Tree area (subject to standard S 1) and the unfenced woody
concentration areas (subject to standard P2). The latter areas included the planted but unfenced
area that was sampled in 2012 and 2014 along with the various areas where volunteer
establishment and growth of woody plants has been dense. These concentration areas total 72.4
acres, or approximately 20% of BRB-1.
SL -6 - 22
