confidence limit of 2755 stems per acre (with a sample size of 27) leaves no doubt that the P2
standard was well -exceeded in this small unfenced concentration planting area.
2014 Woody Plant Densis Success Evaluation
Woody plant density data are presented in the 2012/2014 report of the findings of testing for
revegetation success for the Yoast BRB-1 Phase III bond release area. These data tables are
included here as Attachment D — Revegetation Success Supporting Documentation. As can be
seen in Table 5, the 586.8 stems per acre observed in the background area far exceeds the 180
stems per acre (90 percent of the 200 stems per acre background standard) performance standard.
Statistical testing for 2014 background area data is as follows.
Background woody plant density. Use of a reverse -null t-test of the assertion that the 2014 BRB-
1 background woody plant density exceeds 90% of the standard is shown as follows:
Y — (0.9 =technical standard)
tsaic =
kSN"
tcalc = (586.8 — 180)/(1744.2/32) = 1.319
Since critical ttable = 0.853 (one -tailed, alpha = 0.2, 32-1 df) and toa►c is greater than this critical
value, reclamation success for background woody plant density for Phase III in 2014 is
demonstrated. Hence the standard that there would be at least 200 stems per acre in the
background area was met. P«
The 5236.7 stems per acre observed in the combined two planted concentration areas (one of
which is fenced and one of which is not) exceeds both 1000 stem per acre standard (P2) for
unfenced areas and the 945 stems per acre performance secondary standard for fenced upland
shrubs and trees (S 1). It is of note that in the 2014 background sample area, 12.5 percent of the
samples had woody plant density over 900 stems per acre (i.e. 90% of the 1000 stems per acre
standard).
