October 12, 2016 C-1982-056/Foidel Creek Mine JLE

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2

Please clean out the sediment delta formed at Pond E and fill in the rodent holes obs erved on the pond
embankment.
Pond D was holding water and discharging. The embankment appears stable and the primary and emergency
spillway was clear and functional.

Pond C was dry and not discharging. Overall the embankment is vegetated and stable. However the eastern end
of the embankment has fairly sparse vegetation established. Mr. Watterson and Jerry Nettleton indicated that TC
will be conducting some seeding this fall and this embankment is on the list to be seeded.

Pond B was discharging. TC cleaned out the upper cell of the pond. The primary spillway was clear and
functional.

Pond T was holding a small amount of water and was discharging a small trickle out of the v -notch weir. The
embankment was stable and vegetated. The primary spillway culvert is surrounded by cattails that should be cut
back. The emergency spillway was clear and functional.

The Area No. 1 Pond was holding water and discharging into Pond D.

GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
The Division observed WC18R, WC19, WC17, WC22 and WC01 corehole sites. With the exception of corehole
WC17, the casings around these coreholes have been removed and the area affected by this has been graded and
the locations of the coreholes marked with a T -Post.
Please remove the casing at the WC17 corehole and place a mark er at the corehole location.

Based on previous Division inspections the following coreholes will need to be marked with a marker:
WC27, WC29, WC28, WC26F, WC12 and WC04. According to Ms. Blomquist, these cor eholes have not
been marked.

Please locate and mark corehole WC11.

The Foidel Creek School House does not appear to be affected by the mining operation.

TC has completed the longwall move and the longwall is currently mining in the eastern end of the 9 Right LW
Panel at the 143+00 station at the time of the inspection. Continuous miners were working in the 8 East gate road
at the 6+40 station and at the D-Mains.
