1995 ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT
FOIDEL CREEK MINE
PERMIT C-82-056
This report addresses the surface disturbances associated with the underground mining
operations conducted by Twentymile Coal Company. Twentymile Coal Company currently
mines federal and private coal reserves in Routt County, Colorado. Coal extraction is
accomplished by utilizing a retreating longwall system, therefore surface disturbances are limited
to surface support facilities consisting of relatively small acreage's. The surface support
facilities in the immediate vicinity of the mine portals are addressed as a contiguous area even
though new disturbances to this area occurred in several distinct locations during 1995. Outlying
facility disturbances are addressed individually as are those disturbed acres associated with the
newly constructed refuse pile.
Currently, TCC is responsible for disturbances consisting of the locations listed on Table 1, and
shown on the 1995 Foidel Creek Mine Annual Reclamation Maps. Several locations were newly
disturbed during 1995. When reclamation at the designated idle sites commences, TCC will
follow the approved reclamation plan found in Permit C-82-056 using the approved seed
mixtures.
1995 RECLAMATION
The disturbed acreage shown for the surface facilities in the 1995 Annual Reclamation Report is
326.5 acres - a 4.5 acre increase relative to 1994. Two areas of new disturbance are accounted
for in this acreage. Approximately 2.5 acres of new disturbance was associated with
construction of relocated Pond E. Following construction, the disturbed area associated with
Pond E was seeded with the approved pastureland seed mix. The remaining 2.0 acres of
additional disturbance stems from activities associated with the construction of the batch weigh
loadout facilities. Approximately 1.5 acres were stripped of topsoil immediately east of the new
batch weigh coal stockpile location. Approximately 0.5 acres associated with the access road
construction to the batch weigh loadout building were also stripped.
Approximately 63.7 acres of new disturbance associated with the coal refuse pile is included on
Table 1 and shown on Map 1 of 2. The entire footprint of the pile was stripped of topsoil with
topsoil piles established as shown. Weather conditions and continuing construction precluded
seeding of the topsoil piles during 1995. The piles will be seeded at the first opportunity in 1996
with the approved temporary seed mixture.
Two barricade chamber drill pads developed over the 9 -Right and 10 -Right gateroad entries were
constructed and reclaimed and reclaimed during 1995 with the exception of stand pipes which
will remain until the facilities are no longer needed. At that time, the holes will be permanently
sealed per the approved plan and the sites finally graded and seeded. Disturbance associated
with these sites comprises less than 0.5 acres. The sites were seeded with the approved
pastureland seed mix following the initial regrading work completed. An additional drill pad for
