August 16, 2016 C-1982-056/Foidel Creek Mine JLE

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1

TC was actively pumping water to the Area 1 Pond.

Pond D was discharging. The embankment was stable and vegetated. The primary and emergency spillway was
clear and functional.

GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
According to Miranda Blomquist with TC, the contractor on site has not completed removing the casings and
adding markers to the sealed Wolf Creek Coreholes noted during the Division’s July 2016 inspection. This item
remains outstanding and will need to be addressed.

TC is currently moving the longwall from the former operations in the Western Mining District to the Wolf Creek
Reserve.

OTHER (SPECIFY):
The following maintenance items were observed during previous Division inspections. Below is a list of the items
and a discussion of their current status.
Ditch F-1 north of the P.M. Bay needs to be repaired and positive drainage to Pond F needs to be re-
established.
o This item is outstanding. Based on Map 24, on the northwest corner of the P.M. Bay this ditch
crosses an access road and parallels this road on the southeast side transporting drainage from the
equipment laydown area to Pond F. Brian Watterson and I walked this ditch and it would seem
that a culvert should be installed where the ditch crosses the access road on the northwest corner
of the P.M. Bay. It appears a water bar crossing is not really effective at this location. In addition
to this, on the western edge of the equipment storage area, the ditch appears to dead end at the
entrance to the Pond F access road. A culvert should be installed in this location to allow drainage
to pass into the ditch that leads to Pond F. Finally, some debris was observed in this ditch that
needs to be removed. Brian Watterson indicated that he would coordinate this week with the
surface operations and their on-site contractor to initiate the improvements. A minor revision will
need to be submitted to update Map 24 with the locations of the new culverts.
