July 19, 2016 C-1982-056/Foidel Creek Mine JLE

Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1

Please cleanout the ditch south of the rail line east of the train loadout and clean out the sediment
traps and rock check dams as depicted on Exhibit 49DD -F1 in the permit.
o This item was addressed, however it appears recent precipitation has caused some damage
to the rock check dams that will need to be repaired.
Please repair the drainage ditch to Pond T.
o This item was addressed.
An old electrical borehole is located southwest of the 7 North Escape Shaft. This borehole was
observed during the inspection. The borehole cement collar is in place and the metal casing is
protruding from the collar. It does not appear this borehole is in use and it has not been sealed.
TC must complete the following: Evaluate the need for this borehole. If it is no longer needed for
the mining operation it should be sealed in accordance with Rule 4.07.3. Please verify that this
site is not being utilized as monitoring well 95M001 that monitors the Trout Creek Sandstone in
accordance with the approved bedrock monitoring plan.
o According to Mr. Watterson, the borehole was an old electrical drop for the mine.
Temporarily, TC has placed a metal cap on the borehole casing and covered the casing
with rocks. According to a phone conversation with Jerry Nettleton, this borehole may
need to be utilized by the electrical staff at the mine, but it is unclear. Mr. Nettleton is
investigating the need for the borehole. If the borehole is no longer needed for the mining
operation it must be permanently sealed in accordance with Rule 4.07.3.
In the RDA-1d ditch, a large section of HDPE pipe and wood was observed in the ditch and needs
to be removed.
o The HDPE pipe was removed but the wood was stuck in the mud and still needs to be
removed. This issue remains outstanding.
WC013 corehole has been sealed and needs to be marked with a marker.
o This item was not addressed at the time of the inspection. However, Brian Watterson sent
me an e-mail dated Friday July 22, 2016 and indicated that he had placed a marker at this
well location.
The head-cut in the RDA-1b drainage needs to be repaired and stabilized.
o This item has been addressed. TC will need to continue to monitor this drainage and
conduct maintenance and stabilization practices from time to time.
