Cresson Project – AM-11 Adequacy Review
Page 9
May 03, 2016 (Revised May 31, 2016)

monitoring sites that are located outside of the proposed AM-11 permit
boundary.
4.1.4.3 Discussion
Page 15: The text states that the (deep) groundwater monitoring well PGMW-2 has
shown dry conditions since installation in 2005. What is the completion and
screening depth of this well? As the operation moves into the North Cresson Mine
and the proposed underground mine, it will become increasingly important to monitor
for impact to the Cripple Creek drainage system. Have you considered installing an
alluvial groundwater well to monitor the shallow groundwater system present in
Poverty Gulch?
4.2 – Squaw Gulch
4.2.1 Current Conditions
Page 15: The text indicates that multiple EMPs may exist in association with this
drainage. On Figure 1-1, two EMPs appear to be located near this drainage, including
EMP-008b and EMP-008c. Are these the only two EMPs associated with this
drainage?
4.2.3.1 Monitoring Program
Page 16: The text lists one surface water monitoring station, SG-10. However, this
station is not shown on Figure 2-1. Please revise Figure 2-1 to show the location of
this monitoring station.
4.2.4.1 Monitoring Program
Page 17: The text lists a total of 5 groundwater monitoring wells in Squaw Gulch.
However, only 3 of these wells are shown on Figure 2-1 (SGMW-5, SGMW-6A, and
SGMW-6B). Please revise Figure 2-1 to show locations of all monitoring sites
discussed in this section.

Page 17: There appears to be a typo for the names of three of the groundwater
monitoring wells. The text lists “GVMW-6B, GVMW-7A, and GVMW-7B” which is
the naming system used for Grassy Valley. The Division believes this was a typo, and
that these three wells should begin with SGMW rather than GVMW. If this is the
case, please correct these typos in order to reduce any confusion they may cause.
4.3 – Gold Rush
4.3.1 Current Conditions
Page 19: The text states that the Gold Run drainage is shown on Figure 1-1.
However, this drainage does not appear to be labeled on Figure 1-1. Please revise
Figure 1-1 to label this drainage.

Page 19: The text indicates that multiple EMPs may exist for this drainage. However,
on Figure 1-1, no EMPs appear to exist for this drainage. Are there any EMPs
associated with the Gold Run drainage? If so, please add them to Figure 1-1.
4.3.4.1 Monitoring Program
