t,,ir = (46.9 — 29.2) / (22.6 / 40^0.5) = 4.953
Since critical tt = 0.851 (one -tailed, alpha = 0.2, 40-1 df) and t, (4.953) is greater than this critical value,
reclamation success for Fenced Aspen "Concentration" area woody plant density for Phase III in 2015 is
demonstrated.
Fenced Riparian "Concentration"Area Density
Sample adequacy based on woody plant density was not achieved in the Fenced Riparian
"Concentration" areas of the Phase III BRB-3, but the mean density was greater than 90% of the
performance standard. The 2015 BRB-3 Fenced Riparian "Concentration" woody plant density data were
first evaluated for normality using the Shapiro-Francia test which was not passed. Thus, hypothesis
testing calculations went forward using the non -parametric rank -order test is set forth in CDRMS/CDMG
2005 revised rule, 4.15.11 (3)(a), shown as follows:
L = p(n+1) — Z [np (1-p)] ^0.5
L = 0.5 x (40 + 1) — 0.842 [40 x 0.5 (1 -0.5)]^0.5=17.837
Since L value is not an integer, the limit is obtained by linear interpolation between the closest order
statistics as shown below:
Lower 80% confidence limit = Rank 17 Value + [0.837 x (Rank 18 Value — Rank 17 Value)] = 802.8
Since Lower 80% confidence limit of the Fenced Aspen "Concentration" area in the BRB-3 (802.8) is
greater than 70% of the performance standard (662 stems per acre), reclamation success for Fenced
Riparian "Concentration" area woody plant density for Phase III in 2015 is demonstrated.
Fenced Upland "Concentration" Area Density
Sample adequacy based on woody plant density was achieved in the Fenced Upland "Concentration"
areas of the Phase III BRB-3. Since the mean density exceeded the standard and adequacy was
achieved, a direct comparison of reclaimed area mean to standard is allowed under DRMS rules (CDMG
2005 revised rule, 4.15.11 (2)(a)).
29
