Since the mean woody plant density data in the Fenced Upland "Concentration" areas (2227.4 stems per
acre) is greater than 90% of the performance standard (851 stems per acre), reclamation success for
Fenced Upland "Concentration" area woody plant density for Phase III in 2015 is demonstrated.
SPECIES DIVERSITY AND COMPOSITION
With regard to Mandatory Test A, that no single species comprise greater than 60% relative cover in the
2015 BRB-3. Table J-1 shows that the most abundant single species western wheatgrass (Pascopyrum
smithii) was 23.7% relative all -hit cover, far below the 60% threshold of concern.
Hence Mandatory Test A is passed for 2015 data.
With regard to Alternative Test B, the Total Species Density test the following is calculated for the 2015
BRB-3 (Table J-2):
Mean Species density (area -weighted, without noxious species) in the 5 reference areas = 26.8
species per 100 sq.m.
Probability -adjusted density standard:
Mean Reference Area Species Density — 1.15s = 26.8 — 1.15 (5.71) = 20.2
Mean total species density without noxious species in the 2015 BRB-3 = 24.8
Since the reclaimed area value was greater than the standard, Alternative Test B is passed for 2015
data.
Regarding Alternative Test C, the similarity index between the lifeform species density values for the
prescribed lifeforms for the 2015 BRB-3 and the Mean Species density (area -weighted) in the five
reference areas is 73% (Table J-3), exceeding 90% of the standard (0.9 x 70% = 63%).
Hence Alternative Test C is passed for 2015 data.
Regarding Alternative Test D, the total number of native species encountered in the first eleven 100 m2 (2
m x 50 m) samples of the 2015 BRB-3 that constituted an adequate sample based on allowable all -hit
herbaceous cover was 47. The total number of native species encountered in the first six 100 m2
30
