Applicant's Response:
The Applicant's proposed land use for Cell No. 2 and the area east of the relocated
McCanne Ditch is wildlife habitat. Please see revised Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan
Map.
20. "The map is rather non-descript about the configuration of Bromley Lakes Cell No. 2
parcel. Please depict/display the configuration and proposed land use of this parcel."
Applicant's Response:
The Applicant's proposed land use for Cell No. 2 is wildlife habitat including
wetlands. Please see revised Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan Map.
6.4.7 EXHIBIT G — Water Information
21. "How many total wells will be used to monitor ground water levels? Please display the
location of the wells on the Exhibit G Water Information map. Please state how often
these wells will be monitored (monthly, quarterly, etc.)? Also, Please describe what
actions will be taken if the five foot trigger point is breached at the monitoring wells?
For example, who will be notified and how will the problem be mitigated?
Applicant's Response:
The Applicant has been monitoring four (4) ground water monitoring wells adjacent to
the west side of Brighton Road on a monthly basis for the past four (4) years.
The Site Plan/Pre-Mining (Exhibit C-2) shows the location of the Applicants 4 ground
water monitoring wells.
The few alluvial wells that could possibly be affected by mining are located east of
Brighton Road on the Petrocco Farms property. The Petrocco wells are used to irrigate
vegetables grown on the farm during spring and summer months.
Mining of the proposed 52 acre expansion area, located west of Brighton Road and
east of the McCanne Ditch will begin by mining a 100 ft wide strip in 600 foot long
sections along Brighton Road (Phase 12). This will be done outside a_50 ft
geotechnical setback along the road right-of-way to prevent slope stability impacts to
the road right-of-way and parallel subsurface utilities. Phase 12 mining will begin in
late fall and be completed during the following winter months. Mining will begin at
the south end of the phase and move northerly along the 50 foot setback limit in 600
foot increments. As soon as the operator has excavated the south end of Phase 12 the
operator will begin placing compacted backfill adjacent to the 50 foot setback from the
Brighton Road right-of-way. Backfilling will occur concurrently with mining by using
the overburden removed from the area of active mining and using it to backfill the
mined area. All mining and backfilling done in this manner will be completed by the
end of the winter. The goal is to mine and backfill phase 12 as soon as possible in
order to establish a low permeability ground water barrier that will minimize
drawdown impacts on domestic and irrigation wells across Brighton Road to the east.
8/19/2009 9
