Portions of Phases 13, 14, 16 and 17 may have to be similarly mined and backfilled to
extend the currently planned Phase 12 ground water barrier depending upon the results
of ground water monitoring following mining of Phase 12.
In order to protect Petrocco Farms from temporary ground water impacts due to
mining RMCC and Petrocco developed the following Mitigation Plan:
In 2007 RMCC installed two 10" HDPE (SDR -26) water lines under Brighton Road in
order to be able to pump water to Petrocco if needed. The two lines are located in the
southeast corner of Phase 12;
In 2007 RMCC paid for the installation of two (2) 5,000 gallon water storage tanks at
Petrocco's direction;
During mining RMCC will monitor ground water elevations on (weekly basis and
report the results to Petrocco and,
If Petrocco Farms notifies RMCC that water is needed, the company will begin
pumping water and if necessary, delivering water by truck to refill Petrocco's water
storage tanks.
Finally, in the event that other owners of nearby alluvial wells indicate that mining has
adversely impacted their well RMCC will first take steps to provide neighbors with a
reliable supply of potable water and second take steps necessary to mitigate ground
water impacts due to mining.
22. "Please estimate the projected water requirements for the operation, including flow
rates and annual volumes for the development, mining and reclamation phases of the
project.
Applicant's Response:
Please see the renewal request for Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP) for RMCC-
Bromley Lakes Pit (M-1987-049) included with this Adequacy Response. The SWSP
was prepared by BBA Water Consultants and is dated July 1, 2009. The SWSP
describes the overall water depletions and sources of augmentation water.
